Steal Or Die is a Roblox survival heist from Vantage Gameworks — the group’s first game, launched September 9, 2026. Fifteen players load into a server, everyone votes on a map, and then it’s simple and brutal: sneak into a building, steal anything worth money, and walk it out alive while one of those fifteen players — controlling the entity — hunts the rest of you. It blew past half a million visits in its first month, and this guide is everything a first-timer needs before the lobby timer hits zero.
What is the objective in Steal Or Die?
The in-game tutorial says it better than any paraphrase:
“Sneak into the building, grab anything worth money, and get it out alive. Something hunts you. Every match has an entity. It hears your footsteps and sees your light. Crouch, hide in closets, and never let it see you. The exit stays sealed at first. Watch the clock. Loot only counts once you walk out with it. Die inside and it’s gone.”
Three rules do the heavy lifting:
- The exit is sealed at the start. You loot while a countdown runs, visible only while you’re alive. The endgame is positioning, not shopping.
- Nothing banks until you leave. Your top-right balance is a promise, not a payment. Die inside and the haul is gone.
- Everything is a sound and light problem. Footsteps, voice and flashlight beams all reach the entity. Silence and darkness are armor.

Cash you extract buys gadgets, energy drinks and cases in the shop; every match also turns XP into skill tree progress. Neither matters in your first run — walking out does.
What happens in the lobby before the match?
More than you’d expect. The lobby is a hangout with a full basketball court — dribbling, crossovers, behind-the-back moves, passing, dunks, and genuine 1v1s; one player’s verdict was “it’s just like 2K.” You can touch the net without jumping. Between matches this is where you spend: the lobby shop sells the gadgets, energy drinks and cases the tutorial mentions, including the 200-coin barricade kit that seals doors against the entity.

When the lobby timer runs out, vote for the map and a mode. Three maps exist — Facility, Office and American Dorm — and the mode names haven’t been published, so you’re voting on labels until the community maps them. First pick doesn’t matter much; every map is learnable in a few runs, and the maps guide has the routing for all three.
How do you survive inside the building?
Do these five things and you’ll outlive half the server on night one:
- Crouch by default. Crouching cuts the noise your footsteps make — the tutorial’s first survival instruction and still the best one.
- Kill your flashlight when it matters. The entity sees your light. Flick it on to scan a room, off before you move.
- Mute yourself. The game reads your microphone — there’s a mic indicator at the bottom of the HUD showing the entity can hear your voice. Humming, arguing with friends, a whistle emote: all of it broadcasts you. (The game page lists Roblox voice chat as “not supported” while videos clearly show players talking — whatever the platform field says, the in-game mic detection is real, so test yours before betting a run on it.)
- Grab a phone first. It’s the cheapest item in the game, which makes it the perfect opening grab — near-zero risk, a floor payout banked. Then layer small valuables (watch, tablet) before the heavy stuff. The best loot route has the full order.
- Watch the weight. Items show their kilograms, the mini fridge makes you 50% slower, and the HUD will tell you you’re “maxed out on weight.” Slow survivors get caught.

When the entity closes in anyway, hiding is a real option — lockers, vents (bring a screwdriver), barricaded doors. None of them are guaranteed: the entity has been seen dragging players straight out of lockers. The hiding guide rates every option honestly.
What is hunting you?
A person. Every match assigns one player as the entity — “the monsters are players” was one streamer’s first surprised call, and it changes everything about how you play. It’s not a bot patrolling a script; it hears footsteps, sees light, reads the mic indicator, and makes human decisions about where you’d hide. Officially, the game has four entities; two are named so far — The Locust, the audio hunter, and The Hollow, the tall crawler — and the other two remain unnamed.
The hunter side has its own limits: a stamina bar, a jump with a cooldown, and — for now — a heavily restricted field of vision on at least The Hollow, per the players who’ve drawn it. It can rip doors open, and its kills end with the victim slimed. The entity can win the match outright, so respect it: it is a better predator than any AI.

What happens after you escape?
Your haul converts to spendable cash — single runs in community play have banked from about $255 up to $1,500. Cash buys the shop’s gadgets, energy drinks and cases. Every match also awards XP: levels are real (“level two” hits mid-run), each level hands out a skill point per the community’s testing, and the confirmed node so far is faster stamina recovery. The tree is upgraded in the lobby between matches, and past it the developer advertises ten rebirths — mechanics still unrevealed, so ignore anyone selling a rebirth guide with specifics. Our skill tree page tracks what’s actually confirmed.
From here: the value list tells you what every confirmed item has sold for, and the codes page holds the fastest cash question in any Roblox game — currently answered with an honest “none exist yet.” The rest of the guides section grows with the game.
